Unfortunately, the rain got the better of us today and Try-Outs were canceled.

Try-out schedule for the rest of the week

3/25 Friday 3 PM (only if you’re in the double elimination tournament)– Everyone on courts 3-6 are OFF Friday and need to come Saturday at 10 AM.

2 sessions: 3/26 Saturday 10a-12 pm and 12- 2:30 pm of this week. (You will be emailed more information.)

Matches need to be completed by Sunday 3/27 for our Double Elimination tournament for Varsity spots.

Varsity will be announced before 3/28 Monday‘s practice at 3 pm. JV will be announced between now and Monday (3/28).

Staples Girls Tennis suffered a hard fought loss to Darien 3-4 yesterday in windy, cold conditions. The team held line 3 singles after a marathon match by Karenna Birns but lost on singles lines 1,2, and 4. Victories at line 1 and 2 doubles made for a down to the last match outcome on line 3 doubles. Unfortunately, it didn’t go the Wreckers way. It’s early in the season and the team will regroup and hope for a chance to play the Blue Wave again in post-season play.

Staples Girls Tennis beat a skilled New Canaan team 5-2 yesterday with a number of close singles and doubles matches and hard fought wins and losses. Way to go girls! The team is now 3-0.

Staples Girls Tennis downs Greenwich 7-0 after a couple of gritty, come from behind wins from Allie Francis and Audrey Kercher!

A brief, pre-season meeting for those interested in trying out for the team will be held Friday, March 12th at 2:30 via Zoom.  Link to be provided on Staples Athletics website. Tryouts begin March 29th-31st at Staples High School or Doubleday courts (Saugatuck Elem School). Exact location and times TBD. Register for tryouts using this link – deadline to register is March 21st.
